NEW MEXICO RV REGISTRATION FEES

We are looking at New Mexico, thinking of relocating. We cann't seem to find the cost, yearly, of registering a RV. Any info would help. We also are looking into hidden costs of being there, instead of Florida. We know about the income tax ( pain in the b--t ) and the sales taxes. Property tax isn't bad, and the overall tax load is slightly less than Fla. Am I missing anything major??? Help, the poor misguided Muffin Man.

RE: Rexhall American Clipper?

SOME MORE INFO WOULD REALLY HELP. We had a 2002 ( I think, maybe 2003 ) American Clipper, 1 slide, 300 ISB Cummins, 5 speed Allison, nice coach but a little to small. Spartan chassis, gave me nothing but problems with front wheel bearings, replaced 2 times in 6 months and ABS problems, changed module and 3 wheel sensors to get it working. Got 10 MPG all ady, and ran good, but, I didn't get any help on anything from factory, so, sold it. Good luck. the Muffin Man.

RE: '07 Honda CR-V

We are towing a 2008 CRV, no nav. I had a Roadmaster Stowmaster set up, it will not work on the CRV. Looked very carefully at all available systems, and went with a Blue Ox plate and steel towbar. When you get there, all the junk comes off the toad, looks normal. The other systems left lots of stuff on the front of the CRV. Just personnal choise. Also used my old Brake Buddy, it works!! I am sure you will hear all the systems work, and they do, but, if you don't want to break a knee walking around a toad in the dark, look at the Blue Ox setup. The, ever opinionated, but usually correct, Muffin Man.

RE: 2008 CRV Radio Fuse

We have a 2008 CRV, no Nav system, with a Blue Ox tow bar and a Brake Buddy ( older style ). We have towed it about 4000 miles, so far, never pulled fuse, never ran battery down , and have gone up to 400-450 miles a day. If the batt runs down, you left something on. You must shut off everything, Radio, AC, etc. The Muffin Man , lost in New Mexico, heading for Florida.

RE: HWH air ride system??

Unfortunately, thats what I figured the change would cost. Just tring to get info on it , cause we are going to keep this coach a while, and some upgrades may be worth looking into. The adjustable ride height, on Interstates, may help mileage. Just curious. Thanks for the ticket info, the Muffin Man A.K.A. Jack.

RE: $3,200 quote to tow!!! Are you kidding

Just set up a 2008 CRV to flaat tow. The BlueOx base plate and wiring for the lights cost $650, at the local hitch place. The tow bar, Aventa LX, was $530, including cover and cable/chains. The wiring cable is $35. Already had a Brake Buddy, bought new from EBay for $600. Thats $1935, still to darn much money but the system works perfectly and has given no trouble. Shop around and be picky, you can go cheaper. I went with BlueOx because it is a neater system, than Roadmasster. Sold all the Roadmaster stuff, and started over.Bothsystems work great, but BO looks better on the CRV than the overly bulky RM stuff on the CRV. And since it is my wifes car, it has got to look good. Remember, Its more important to look good, than to feel good!!! The Muffin Man.

HWH air ride system??

Has anyone had the newer HWH air ride system installed on their DP? It seems to give a better ride and flatter cornering. I do not want a sports car but it does seem to have some positive features, looking at the video. Just wondering. thanks, the Muffin Man.

Canyon de Chelly campground

We will be in the area, near Canyon de Chelly, in late july. We were going to stay in the area one or two nights. Looked into Cottonwood and the other one in the park, but we travel with cats and dogs. We need at least 30 amp for AC while we drive around, don't want X cats and dog!! Are there any hook-up, private campgrounds, near Canyon de Chelly, I do not want to leave the generator on for 8-10 hours, with us gone. Any help would be greatly appriciated. The slightly sweaty Muffin Man.

RE: 2008 Honda Civic 4-Wheels Down

We traded our 2006 Civic for a CRV. Could figure out no safe way to tow the Civic, 4 down, without the factory saying no warrentee(sp).

RE: CR-V

FWD and four WD are the same, follow the owners manual exactly, and life is good. We just set up a front wheel drive 2008 CRV and it tows great. Used Blue OX tow bar and plate, because it is a cleaner front end with less cutting. Blue Ox recommends separate lights, do not cut into existing harness, so thats what I did . No problems. The Muffin Man.

Brake Buddy problem???

We have the older Brake Buddy, with a remote indicator. It worked fine in our 2003 HR Scepter 40 footer, the read out, plugged in the cigarette lighter, showed when it came on just fine. Brake Buddy was mounted in a 2002 Tracker, and hung the tansmitter in the visor. Now have a 2001 Dynasty, also side radiator, towing a 2008 Honda CRV. The remote indicator, in the front of the coach, does not readout operation. If I put the car near thwe front of the coach and actuate the BB it reads out. Any way to boost the signal? I'm going to call BB monday and see if they have any suggestions. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, the Muffin Man. By the way, the CRV is a nice toad. Went with BLUE OX stuff, cause the Roadmaster stuff was cluttered on the front end. Wired with separate lights, as per Blue Ox, Works out very well.

Gaspee - CW or CCW????

We are doing the Canadian maritines this summer, when we drive around the Gaspee, are you better off going clockwise or counter clockwise?? If CCW are the pullouts, or overlooks, easily doable ?? If CW, pulling into pullouts, do you have to cross the road for a good view?? Just wondering, do not want to have to cross lanes, when pulling out of viewpoints. Thanks for any help , the, soon to go French, Muffin Man. I cann't spell cousant, coiusant, cuosaint, ^$*&%^$*$$ pastery!!!

RE: Battery oil??????????????

OK, I guess I'll try mineral oil in the batts. Did anybody notice less water useage, in the batts??? Also, dumb question, How do you equilize batteries, in the coach??? I have seen the expression and used to know how, but the mind is failing, and I don't remember the procedure. Help the undercharged Muffin Man.

Battery oil??????????????

A camping buddy said he tried some Battery Oil , should give longer life and keep batteries cleaner. I cann't find any info on the net, has anyone tried this product, and , if so, does it work??? He said you just add a certain amount to each cell. Edison used it on the first batteries he made, but who the heck knows. Any feedback would help, thanks, the Muffin Man. Or should I just use it to lube up the python.

Newfoundland dog kennel???

We are planning to go to the Maritines, and Newfoundland, this summer. We were going to leave the MH at ST. Barbe, or at a campground near there, and go over to Labrador and spend 2-4 days looking around. We travel with 2 cats and a Sheltie. We can leave the cats with lots of food and water and they will be OK. The dog needs more care, so we are looking for a kennel, or a dog sitter, up that way. Anyone have any experience with anything like this, in that area? Also, any favorite campgrounds , in the area??? Thanks, in advance, the Muffin Man.

RE: Refrig. electrical problem??????

If the heater was shorted, why does it work plugged in at the camp ground?? And other appliances, plugged into the motorhome outlets, work fine. The outlet behind the refrig, 110VAC, checks OK with a polarity checker. If it is the heater element, I thought I would trip the campground GFI breaker???? Will keep checking, where can I disconnect the heater element, is it on the board on the back of the refrig??? Thanks, the Muffin Man.

Refrig. electrical problem??????

We have a 2001 Dynasty, with a Norcold 1200, that has me confused. Plugged into campground AC, 30 or 50 amp, refrig works OK on AC. Run on LP, and everything is OK plugged into campground AC or home AC. Plugged into 110, at home, with a 15/30/50 adapter string, the GFI, in the garage, trips as soon as you go from LP to AC. Made up a test plug and put a ampprobe on the 110VAC line. If I turn on the water heater, I get 12 amps. If I run the vacumn cleaner, I get 5-6 amps. So the ampprobe works. Turn the refrig from LP to AC, I do not ever get a blip on the probe and the GFI trips. Checked the 2 plugs behind the refrig ( behind the outside panel ) and the polarity checker says they are wired properly. I don't have a clue, any ideas or input would be helpful. I think its a grounding problem with the refrig (???) maybe, but any ideas would be appriciated. Thanks, the Muffin Man. Grounded out, once again.

ISL - remove the muffler???

Has anyone tried taking off the muffler, and replacing with a straight pipe??? An ISL might get some MPG increase, but the noise might be a problem. Just curious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The exhausted Muffin Man.
